If you’re struggling with how to fund the development and maintenance of environmental systems—like drinking and waste water systems—the How To Pay: Challenges and Solutions Of Environmental Protection is for you and your local government team. The webcast, part of ICMA’s Sustainable Communities Leadership Initiative features:
  • Cassandra Rice, Attorney, United States Environmental Protection  Agency, Office of Compliance, who will demonstrate how the financial and technical resources at EPA's Financing for Environmental Compliance website can provide a step-by-step process to help communities develop a sound infrastructure financing plan.
  • Bill Jarocki, Director, Environmental Finance Center,Boise State University who will review the Financial Dashboard designed by the Environmental Compliance Center at Boise State. It helps decision makers understand the effects of their financial decisions on the sustainability of the water systems.
  • Brian Bolton, Mayor of Conway, NC, who will discuss how his city used a capital planning model which looks at the impacts of a capital improvement plan on rate increases for customers and how the model has impacted  and changed their decision making process.
The goal of the webcast is to help you get information about modifying rates, capital investment, asset replacement, and other fundamental financial management decisions, and obtain practical resources to improve public health by ensuring that your community has sound financing plans to pay for environmental infrastructure.

Who Should Attend?
The "How To Pay" Challenges and Solutions Of Environmental Protection webcast targets local government leaders, environmental and public works officials, and finance directors.
